We had pretty busy weekend, but first some sleep. Thank goodness! Late baseball games are getting me. I’m just too much of a morning person. Although, I slept until after 10:00 Saturday morning! I slept later than Cody! That almost never happens. And, I never fully felt like I woke up all day. That’s the problem with sleeping late for me.
Alas, I had to get up, there was work to do at the deer lease.
Ah, yeah, I said work. . . .
Okay, so perhaps he did the work. At least at this stand. He checked game cameras and filled the tube feeders (that thing on the tree on the left here is free-flowing corn for the deer (and sometimes squirrels that will sit right in the corn and eat. These suckers have to be filled at least once a week. . .
How love how techie he’s gotten! He loves getting to see what he’s got on his cameras so quickly. (And often gets to see what others have because they know he’s got the hook-up- an old iPad that I’ve no idea how he’s not running out of space on yet.)
Why yes, there were lots of ‘shrooms for me to shoot while I waited on him. I love that no two are ever really alike- and there’s just so much variation. So much so than in those purple flowers above- there’s not many flowers out at the lease right now.
Bugs were also abundant- but what struck me was just how many ginormous cobwebs there were completely crossing our paths to his stuff covering wide spans with bits anchoring them. It was a bit tricky not to just walk right into the middle of them. (And the sun made it hard to see some of them.)
Seriously, there was work to be done. I snapped this quick shot with my phone just before we replaced the legs on this protein feeder. As it sits seen in this picture, raccoons will stand on the ground and manage to get on those tubes where we’re supposed to be giving the deer some better nutrition. . . and that’s expensive. So we took off the vasoline’d poles (which clearly, didn’t keep the coons away since they just bypassed them) and put some longer legs. Thankfully, we didn’t have to empty the feeder.
And then, I got to play some more.
I honestly wasn’t feeling that well. And didn’t take too many pictures (well for me. . .) I have to hand it to Cody, he realized that little red spec above wasn’t just a piece of the mushroom- it was a whole other itty bitty mushroom. He took this picture:
Sunday, began with photos for A Week int eh Life and church. The Alter Linens are read for Reformation Sunday.
A trip to Walmart for necessities like cokes and cookies- really for wrapping paper.
Because someone had a birthday party at the park. She played hard and was a little tired by the time she got to the cake.
We came home realizing it felt like a day of in betweens- Church, home before the party, party, home before the baseball game. And yes, I watched and kept score the entire ballgame. I said when the series began I’d just be happy if the Royals didn’t get swept. But, then they won a game and I got my hopes up. . . and now. I don’t know what to think. I’m still hoping that being back in KC will turn the tide back our way. We’ll have to wait and see.
As I thought about it, this weekend was filled with favorites- the outdoors, flowers, mushrooms, baseball, friends, church- oh and Cody too!
