Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Today I thought I’d share just some of the things I’m thankful for this year. It was hard to choose as I went through my pictures for each month this year- and that’s a good thing.
January: Snow! And 15 years of wedded “Bliss”- I imagine those 15 years are about as close to bliss as anyone can get. It happened to snow on our anniversary and we went to the college campus to get to enjoy it just a bit- walking to the Chemistry building where we first met.
February: Baseball! And sunshine! Baseball actually started in January for us and it feels like it’s been year round- oh wait is has. I’ve seen baseball every month so far including a game we went to just this past weekend. But, it’s the sunshine. The same sunshine that was out this weekend that I am really thankful for. It seems more and more I appreciate just soaking in the sunshine.
March: Converse! And getting to just be me. I’ve always wanted them- as a kid my mom would never buy me any. And I finally bought them for that little girl and for me! It seems this has been a year very much about finding myself- or who I am now.
April: Laughs! Lots of Laughter and tears! And great friends. Scrapbooking has brought so many good friends in my life and these three are just a few. And who could not be thankful for the man on the other end of the that phone who couldn’t see Melissa talking. And who brought us straight to hysterics.
May: Getting to see Aunt and Uncle Jim. . . and Aunt Marie being the instigator. It’s not the best picture ever but if you know Aunt Marie you know she’s rarely ever still. In this case she reminded us just how out of shape we were at Pinson Mounds. But she is the one who instigated one round about trip to Fayetteville across the Mississippi on the Ferry.
June: Dozier being called up to Double AA and for living out your dreams. We’d been hoping the Royals organization would have done this while we were in Fayetteville but they didn’t until almost a month later. But, we went to Frisco to et to watch him play- and Mitch Maier- both getting do what they love. That’s something that sticks with me as I look at the latter part of this year and my own opportunity to do just that.
July: 4th of July Traditions and Family/Friends. As always we met up with the Whitworth’s for the Fourth of July. I am so thankful that they are in our lives.
August: A Cool Night and Mud Racing. It was sorta a dream come true. Only I could have never planned the weather that well. We’ve had some type of mud racing here at the expo for years but I never could get Cody to take me. It was a great night.
September: Lucero and Celebrating. You didn’t think I could make it through this list without ’em, did you? We celebrated my birthday and then this trip we celebrating me turning in my notice at work. Lucero has been a big part of this year (and we still have one more show for this year and tickets to go see them in March.) We’ve seen a lot of places following them around. But, to be honest, in this case, I was most thankful to have turned in my notice and to be striking out on my own with the words to “What are You Willing to Lose?” on repeat in my mind.
October: This man and Smiles. Lots of Smiles. I can’t even begin to count the many ways he makes me smile. He’s a nut but he’s mine. The crazy chap.
November: Deer Lease and Having Fun. Speaking of that crazy chap, he took this picture of me jamming out to Lucero’s The Last Song (The one I fell in love with in Fayetteville when they played in live and that I was so excited made the live album they released this year.) What can I say, it was a great day at the deer lease spending time with them- oh I mean with Cody, yeah, really, with Cody. But I remember just letting go and not caring if he took this picture and that was huge for me.
Today, I want to encourage you to scroll through your pictures and see what blessings they remind you of.
