Over the years, I’ve come to recognize the value of online scrapbooking classes. I suppose I’m a learning junkie anyway, but online scrapbooking classes have not only taught me about scrapbooking- or given me great ideas- but they’ve made me realize more about who I am- both in terms of my scrapbooking emphasis/style and who I am as a person. And, all the while I’ve made some great friends.

The Value of Online Scrapbooking Classes

Scrapbooking classes give you ideas to create layouts. And, boy have I gotten some really great ideas. I love that this layout from Ali Edwards Hello Story gave me a way to capture the snippets of my childhood that I remember.

The Value of Online Scrapbooking Classes

In Cathy Zielske’s Design Your Life class, I was able to explore design principles (principles I use today in a number of other aspects of life) as well as digital templates.

One of the things I love about scrapbooking is that when we stop to tell our story- we learn things about ourselves (or at least recognize them better). This layout from Ali’s Hello Story really solidified the connections between me and my kitchen.

The other things that happens is that you learn from the connections you make with other students. This is something you just don’t get on Pinterest or from a book- the chance to discuss stuff, to feed off of each other’s ideas- and the chance to really think about what you think.

And that’s where you begin to form friendships with other students- it becomes a part of you community. Like this crazy bunch of us that met initially through online classes we’d taken together.

Have you taken any online scrapbooking classes? What were your favorite parts?

(And just a reminder that enrollment for my class, Story Motivated Scrapbooking, ends this weekend.)
